Tarrant Hansen is both the winemaker and director of Spider Bill Wines. A change of career from medical science to wine making lead him to South Australia in 2009 with his wife Melanie. They fell in love with all things Adelaide and wine and now call the Adelaide Hills home. The Hansen family has expanded in recent years with the addition of their daughters Quinn and Paige.
The years after formal study were followed by vintages across the world to further hone Tarrant's winemaking skills. His passion for Italian varieties led him to Piedmont, Italy, where he learned age old techniques of crafting Nebbiolo. Other international vintages of note include Stellenbosch, South Africa and Marlborough, New Zealand. Closer to home Tarrant has worked for a number of wineries across South Australia in the Barossa Valley, Langhorne Creek and the Adelaide Hills.
After seeing so many of the world's wine regions he returned to the Adelaide Hills, as the saying goes, "there's no place like home". Creating the Spider Bill label has allowed Tarrant to use his skills to produce delicious small batch wine from premium parcels of Adelaide Hills fruit.
